Food and Drink Policy
Purpose
Princeton Area Library Supporters are stewards of the Princeton Public Library space, adjacent to the Princeton Community Center. PALS has therefore adopted a Food and Drink Policy for library patrons, visitor, and staff, for the purpose of maintaining a clean and well cared for facility.
Overview and Definitions
FOOD: NO food is allowed in the public library space, including bathroom, during regular library hours.
DRINK: ONLY sturdy reusable cups with screw top, or spill proof lids allowed. NO disposable cups, aluminum cans, disposable bottles, etc. allowed.
Exceptions
Exceptions are as follows: staff may have light food, if needed during their shift at the library, to be eaten in the office. With the Board’s prior approval, light refreshments may occasionally be served at adult only gatherings that are held after regular hours in the library (ex. Book Club). The exception is only for food that does not leave a lingering or strong odor in the library.
Procedure
After Food and Drink Policy has been explained and posted, if a visitor brings an item that is not accepted into the library, the librarian on staff or supervising Board Member will: Give a reminder of the policy and ask to take food/drink outside
