The Exciting Life of Jimmy Woodall

Your local librarians were thrilled to interview Jimmy Woodall on one of his few visits back ‘home’ in Princeton, where he spent his entire childhood. We are thankful he took the time to sit down with us at the library to talk about growing up in Princeton when you would see lots of bicycles leaning against the downtown buildings, namely Woodard’s Drugstore, when the ‘Bicycle Brigades’ took over the downtown streets in the good ole summertime. His first memories are of going to see Dr. Jones, and describes the visits with humorous detail. Jimmy also describes a very full and social and academic life during his high school years at Princeton.

Jimmy chose law as his career, he served our North Carolina for 31 years and retired after holding office for many years as a District Attorney. In this interview he shares some of the excitement, the hardships, and the heavy responsibilities of this high profile job. Now, in retirement life, he and his wife live on a boat and sail the ocean blue! Jimmy shares with us in interesting details the practical and technical side of boat life, and describes the wonderstruck feeling of being totally surrounded by ocean.

This interview is a treasure trove of stories from Princeton past, first hand insight of criminal justice in the courts, and replaces the romance of sailing away on a yacht with the reality of how much work and knowledge is needed to make that dream happen. Your small town librarians hope you enjoy this conversation and getting to know Jimmy Woodall.
