Princeton Through and Through, Meet Brittany Atkinson

Have you been to the Ray Floors Park in Princeton? Notice anything wonderfully bookish there? Of Course you did! The great BIG Little Free Library!! The Little Free Library at the park and at Milltown Java have been a wonderful addition to the Princeton Community. Listen to this podcast interview to find out the why and the heart behind them.

Your Small Town Librarians sat down and interviewed Brittany Atkinson. Brittany is the creator and curator of these two Little Free Libraries. We talked about reading, writing, and promoting literacy to our community. Brittany will be coordinating a new writing club, Pen & Ink Princeton, here at the library every 3rd Monday, 5-7pm. We discussed the plans we have for this club, and talked about creative habits and the benefits of creating in community.

We also talked about town sports, the Little League in particular. This has grown over the years and is thriving in our community. We will be interviewing other Princeton residents about the League.

Brittany is the creator of the Facebook Group What’s Happening Princeton, which is a huge communication service to our community. We asked her what spurred that creation and talked about how it can be a useful tool for the community.

As always, we talked about reading and books! We got off on a couple rabbit trails but as they were informational we left them in the podcast. One off the beaten path trail was about children’s tv programs. Another was about setting routine and habits to problem solve life’s little dilemmas, such as the universal problems of socks in our homes. We came back to books, book marks, and book stores- there is a lot of fun listening for the readers in this episode. Gardening was another off topic conversation, that focused on how the library can gather and share useful information about local gardening. We talked so much that a lot of our conversation was clipped and added to the end of the podcast as ‘extra listening’.
